The 9th annual meeting of three European societies. the Austrian, Swiss and German Society for Vascular Surgery and Vascular Medicine will take place at the Congress Center Rosengarten in Mannheim, Germany, from October 16th, 2019 until October 19th, 2019, under the motto “Competence Decides“.
Besides competence in the brought field of vascular medicine, the focus is also on interdisciplinarity. Joined session with the German Society for Angiology (DGA), the German Society for Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgery (DGTHG), the German Society for Phlebology (DGP) and the German Interdsiciplinary Society for Vascular Anomalies are on the programme.
There will also be a joint meeting with the ESVS (ESVS meets DGG/ÖGG/SGG) with new guidelines as the main topic.
Another highlight of this meeting will be an “international“ session on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019. With the title “The Future of Vascular Medicine“, renowned international vascular physicians will give a lecture on highly interesting topics. This year‘s invited top-class speakers include, among others, Alison Halliday, Roger Greenhalgh, Frank Veith, Michael Dake, J. van den Berg, Takao Ohki, Barry Katzen, Michael Macharoun, Jos van den Bergh, Joseph Bavaria, Jon Matsamura und the next president of the ESVS, Stephan Haulon.
As part of the opening ceremony, the futurist and humanist Gerd Leonard will give a promising guest lecture on “Humanity vs. Technology”. Another particularity will be a “founding period“ session, in which the history of vascular surgery and the evolution of vascular surgery towards our specialist society will be presented by contemporary witnesses and founding members.
