The European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) is the only European Society, representing vascular surgeons on a European level for scientific and educational exchange and sharing expertise. In order to enhance and strengthen our educational achievements, ESVS has a close collaboration with the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes (UEMS). The UEMS currently represents 37 countries through their national associations of medical specialists and more than 50 medical discipline. The most important ones are the 43 Specialist Sections, which represent independently recognized specialties.

In order to harmonize vascular training and experience in Europe, the UEMS Section and Board of Vascular Surgery offers the FEBVS examination and the European Registry of Vascular Surgery, which gathers essential data of vascular training and practice across Europe. The goal of the UEMS Registry is to assist the harmonization efforts of vascular discipline across Europe. Also, CME credit points for continuous medical education are forwarded by the board.

In conjunction with every annual ESVS meeting, an UEMS examination takes place. ESVS also offers a great variety of trainings and courses, to enable participants passing this important examination.
